
Sixteen years Teenage Girl Name(withheld) was Gang-raped by eight people including her guardian in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government, Anambra State.
The Anambra State Government has pledged to ensure justice following reports of alleged abuse involving a 16-year-old girl in Nawfia community, Njikoka Local Government Area.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Esther Onyekesi, gave the assurance when the survivor was received at the ministry in Awka.
She described the situation as deeply troubling and said the government would work with security agencies to ensure that all those involved are investigated and prosecuted where necessary.
Medical findings presented to the ministry indicated that the teenager is currently pregnant, following the reported incident. The case was brought to the attention of authorities after intervention by a Catholic priest in the community, who raised concerns and helped facilitate her rescue.

Onyekesi reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable persons, especially children, and assured that the survivor would receive care, protection, and support as investigations continue.
The victim reportedly told officials that she had been exposed to repeated abuse by her guardian, and that other individuals were also implicated. She further stated that she was eventually rescued with the help of a concerned individual who acted after learning about her situation.
Police authorities in the area have confirmed that some suspects have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend others who are still at large.
The matter remains under investigation at the Nawfia Police Division.
The state government has vowed to follow the case to its conclusion to ensure accountability and justice for all parties involved.
