
Suspected terrorists on Wednesday evening invaded the Ijalu area of Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting a woman and her toddler in an attack that has heightened fears among residents.
The victims were identified as Mrs. Idowu Kemi Titilayo and her young child. They were reportedly seized by the armed assailants during the raid along the Solid Rock School axis of the community.
According to community sources, the attackers stormed the area at dusk, firing sporadically and forcing residents to flee for safety. Witnesses said the gunmen operated for several minutes without resistance before escaping with the victims.
A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons described the incident as terrifying.
“The terrorists arrived suddenly, and everyone started running for safety. They were heavily armed, making it impossible for residents to confront them. They abducted Mrs. Kemi and her little child before disappearing into the surrounding area,” the source said.
The latest attack has deepened concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the community, where residents say they now live under constant threat of violence and abduction.
“This incident has created serious tension in the community. People are afraid because these attacks are becoming increasingly frequent. We appeal to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the woman and her child and restore confidence among residents,” the source added.

The abduction comes amid growing insecurity across parts of Nigeria’s North-Central region.
In a related development, five worshippers abducted during an attack on the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Omugo, Oro Ago District of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, have reportedly died in captivity.
Among those feared dead is the wife of the church minister, Pastor Omole.
Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that information emerging from the kidnappers’ hideout suggests that at least five abductees lost their lives after spending several weeks in captivity.
The tragic revelation was reportedly made by one of the victims who escaped from the kidnappers’ den and later recounted the ordeal, raising fresh concerns over the safety of individuals held by armed groups across the region.
