
Six suspected thugs have been arrested by police following a violent attack that disrupted Sallah celebrations in parts of Katsina State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Musawa Local Government Area, when the suspects allegedly stormed Keku village armed with sticks and machetes, attacking residents and causing panic during the festive period.
Police authorities said operatives of the command’s VCRU unit responded swiftly after receiving distress calls from the community. The prompt intervention led to the arrest of all six suspects before the violence could escalate further.
The suspects were identified as Dayyabu Salisu (25), Usama Mansur (23), Yunusa Nura (27), Abdulmumini Alka (23), Buhari Suleiman (27), and Abubakar Safiyanu (27).

Weapons including machetes, sticks, and motorcycles believed to have been used in the attack were recovered.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects may have intended to disrupt the peaceful Sallah celebrations in the area.
Several residents sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State condemned the attack, describing it as unacceptable and a threat to public peace.
He assured residents that the command remains committed to maintaining security across communities in the state.
He also urged members of the public to stay alert and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of inquiries.
