The Lagos State Police Command has successfully foiled a planned kidnapping operation targeting a prominent businessman, neutralising four suspected kidnappers during a fierce gun battle in the Ejigbo area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
According to him, the operation took place on May 24, 2026, around 9:30 p.m., following credible intelligence about an imminent abduction attempt at Jakande Estate Gate.
Police operatives reportedly tracked the movements of the gang, described as a notorious group known for targeting wealthy individuals whenever they enter Lagos to carry out criminal activities.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, officers moved in to intercept the suspects before the attack could be executed.
Investigations revealed that the gang was allegedly led by an individual identified as Ifeanyi, also known as “Ifeko,” who is said to have links to previous high-profile kidnapping operations in the state.
He was reportedly coordinating the operation after returning from abroad.
Upon sighting the police, the suspects opened fire, leading to a gun duel.
