
Media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has opened up about his battle with smoking addiction, revealing he started at 13 and smoked for over a decade before quitting.
Speaking on the latest episode of the MENtality podcast alongside singer Banky W and social media influencer Aproko Doctor, Ebuka said he began smoking in JSS3. By the time he entered university, he was smoking two packs a day and described himself as a heavy smoker for 13 years.
He explained that he eventually overcame the habit through deliberate effort and self-discipline. The conversation also touched on other forms of addiction, with Banky W sharing how he became addicted to pornography while trying to curb promiscuity.

Aproko Doctor added that many people turn to harmful habits as a way to escape pain, noting that the drive to avoid pain and chase pleasure often fuels addiction.
The trio stressed that self-regulation and self-discovery are key tools for breaking free from negative addictions.
