
The Sokoto State Hisbah Board has shut down a suspected brothel and arrested 11 individuals in a coordinated operation within the state capital.
The raid, which took place on Wednesday evening in the Cilma area of Sokoto metropolis, was carried out under a special enforcement exercise tagged “Operation Tsaftace Birni Shehu.”
The initiative is aimed at curbing activities deemed immoral and contrary to religious and public order laws in the state.
According to officials, the operation was triggered by intelligence reports from concerned residents who flagged suspicious activities at the location.
The Acting Commander of the Hisbah Board, Imam Sirajo Abubakar, who also serves as the Director of Da’awah and Aids, led the operation.

He confirmed that all suspects comprising both men and women were apprehended at the scene, while the building has been sealed pending further investigation.
Abubakar reiterated the agency’s commitment to sanitizing the state, stressing that efforts to eliminate prostitution and other perceived immoral acts would be intensified.
“We are determined to rid Sokoto metropolis of all forms of prostitution and immoral acts that corrupt our youths,” he stated.
He further warned that individuals found engaging in such activities would face prosecution, adding that enforcement operations would continue across the state.
Residents have been urged to support the board’s efforts by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing and future operations.
