
Operatives of the Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested four suspected drug traffickers and destroyed two cannabis farms during coordinated raids across Benin City and Orhionmwon Local Government Area.
State Commander Dr. Mitchell Ofoyeju said the arrests were made on 15 May 2026 following credible intelligence. Two female suspects, Eniye Osague, 25, and Osaretin Erabor, 43, were picked up behind the Oredo Local Government Secretariat in Benin City. Osague was found with 272 grams of Scottish loud, while Erabor had 914 grams of cannabis sativa in her possession.
In a separate operation at Hausa Quarters, Oluku, operatives arrested Vivian Chukwuma, 38, and Osigwe Omogie, 44. The suspects were found with 315 grams of cannabis loud, 22 grams of Colorado, 38 grams of methamphetamine, 30 grams of Tramadol 100mg, 113 grams of cannabis sativa, 8 grams of loud, and 5 grams of tramadol.

Ofoyeju added that the command also destroyed two large cannabis plantations in Ago Forest, Orhionmwon LGA. The farms measured 0.362021 hectares and 0.229346 hectares, with an estimated combined yield of 1,388.42 kilograms. No arrests were made at the farms as the cultivators were not present during the raid.
He said the operations form part of the command’s sustained offensive against drug trafficking and abuse in Edo State, and that investigations are ongoing to track other members of the supply chain.
