Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has pushed back against the widespread belief that Nigerian movie stars are wealthy, saying many of them struggle financially behind the scenes.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by fellow actor Baaj Adebule, Rosman said the idea that Nollywood actors are rich is one of the biggest misconceptions about the industry. She explained that while a few actors are financially comfortable, most earn little from acting alone.

According to her, the stars who appear well-off usually make their money from businesses and ventures outside of acting.
“The most overrated misconception about Nollywood stars is that we have money. I don’t know why people assume we have money. Some of us do have money, but from other ventures. But many of us are struggling financially,” she said.
