
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man, Musa Garba, over the alleged abuse of a nine-year-old girl in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area of the state.
According to police authorities, the case was uncovered after the victim confided in her parents about inappropriate conduct she allegedly experienced, prompting her father to report the matter to the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Habib, said detectives immediately launched an investigation and arrested the suspect following the complaint.
He explained that preliminary findings indicated the suspect allegedly exploited the child’s vulnerability and engaged her in repeated inappropriate acts, which are now part of the ongoing investigation.
Police added that the victim was taken for medical examination and care, while the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend another suspect allegedly linked to a separate but related incident mentioned during questioning.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned crimes involving minors and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting children and tackling Sexual and Gender-Based Violence across the state.
