
World record holder Tobi Amusan clinched Nigeria’s first gold medal at the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships on Wednesday, winning the women’s 100m hurdles title in Accra.
The victory marks Amusan’s third time claiming the event at the championships, further cementing her dominance on the continent. Zimbabwe’s Ashley Miller took silver, while fellow Nigerian Adaobi Tabugbo finished third to secure bronze.

For Tabugbo, it was her first individual medal for Nigeria at a major championship.
