Tansian University, Umunya has denied reports circulating online that a priest and member of management was caught in a sexual act with a female student on its campus.
A video trending on social media showed a man identified as a priest from the university’s Oba campus in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, being beaten and stripped by female students. Unverified claims accompanying the video alleged he was caught having sex with a student in a hostel.
In a statement signed by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Barr Boniface Amalu, the management said the allegation is false and was made to damage the institution’s reputation.

“The university states without any hesitation that no such incident as alleged took place within or outside the university premises between the said priest and any female student,” Amalu said.
He added that the matter has been reported to the police for investigation. Tansian University described the claims as the work of detractors seeking to tarnish its image and assured students, parents, and the public to disregard the allegation. The institution stressed that as a faith-based university, it does not condone such conduct.
