
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations bordering on abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
The anti-graft agency made the announcement in a notice published on its official platform on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
According to the EFCC, Farouq, 52, is an indigene of Zamfara State, with her last known address listed as EN008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.

The commission called on members of the public with useful information regarding her whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide. Phone lines and contact details for reporting information were also provided in the notice.
Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs under former President Muhammadu Buhari after her appointment in July 2019. She was regarded as one of the youngest ministers in Buhari’s cabinet during the administration.
The development follows an arrest warrant reportedly issued against the former minister by a Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, on April 16, 2026.
The EFCC has yet to release further details regarding the specific allegations and the next line of action in the case.
