
Troops of the Quick Reaction Force attached to 17 Brigade have recovered an abandoned vehicle following a suspected terrorist ambush along the Karaduwa–Matazu road in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a security update shared by analyst Bakatsine on X, the incident occurred on May 4, 2026. Troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Matazu responded to a distress call after terrorists waylaid commuters on the road.
The soldiers mobilized to the scene immediately, but the attackers fled on sighting the advancing troops. A hot pursuit was launched along the escape route, though no further contact was made with the suspects.

During a search of the area, the troops found an ash-coloured Volkswagen Golf with registration number KJA 743 FP. The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Kafin Soli to Matazu at the time of the incident.
The recovered vehicle was later handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of Matazu, SP Ahmed Hamisu, for further investigation and necessary action.
Authorities say calm has since returned to the area, while security monitoring continues to prevent further attacks.
