The Oyo State Police Command has recorded significant successes in its ongoing crackdown on violent crime, successfully foiling a robbery attempt in Iseyin and rescuing a kidnapped farmer in the Irawo area.
According to a statement issued in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the attempted robbery occurred around 2:00 a.m. along Saki Road in Iseyin.
Acting on credible intelligence, security operatives swiftly responded to reports of an attack on a residence that had previously been targeted earlier in the year.
On arrival, officers discovered that a group of about five armed men had invaded the premises.
A gun battle ensued between the attackers and the security guard on duty, resulting in the death of one suspect and the arrest of two others. The remaining members of the gang reportedly fled the scene with gunshot injuries.
Items recovered from the suspects include a locally fabricated firearm, one expended cartridge, a live round of ammunition, five mobile phones, two power banks, and cash believed to be proceeds of criminal activities.
One of the victims from a previous robbery incident in the area has identified the suspects as part of the gang responsible for an earlier attack on April 13, 2026.
Police authorities confirmed that the case has been transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit for further investigation, with efforts underway to track down the fleeing suspects and uncover their involvement in other criminal operations.

Further investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects identified as Zada Abubakar, Husein Rabiu, and Abubakar Mohammed in connection with the abduction.
The suspects are expected to be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police commended the collaborative efforts of all security agencies involved and urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement with timely and credible information to enhance public safety.
