The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has uncovered a suspected child trafficking network in Enugu State, rescuing two minors allegedly sold under the guise of orphanage care.
According to a statement released by the agency, a 51-year-old suspect identified as Thaddeus is accused of selling the children to his uncle, Elies.
The case has raised serious concerns about the exploitation of vulnerable children through fraudulent care arrangements.
NAPTIP disclosed that its operatives acted on credible intelligence to carry out a targeted rescue operation in Enugu, leading to the successful recovery of the victims.
The rescued children are currently in safe custody and receiving necessary care and protection in line with the agency’s victim support protocols.
