A suspected cult member identified as Obasanjo has been killed in a fresh outbreak of cult-related violence in Lagos State, raising concerns over renewed clashes among rival groups.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in the Egbeda area of the state, just days after similar attacks were reported in Yaba and Isolo.
According to sources, the deceased had recently been released from a correctional facility before he was attacked near the Lion of Judah area around Okunola bus stop.
He was reportedly intercepted by suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity while moving within the neighbourhood.
The victim, believed to be affiliated with the Eiye Confraternity, was said to have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the attack.

Earlier in the week, another violent episode unfolded near Yaba College of Technology, where a man identified as Elubu sustained gunshot injuries during an attack by suspected cultists. Though initially feared dead, he survived after being rushed to a hospital.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the attackers were allegedly members of a rival group who later returned to the area in what appeared to be a reprisal move, chasing the victim to a nearby tricycle park before opening fire.
In a separate incident on the same day, another suspected cultist, identified as Kalou, was killed near Isolo Market. The attack is believed to be part of ongoing retaliatory clashes linked to the earlier killing of an individual named Adeola.
Confirming the Egbeda incident, the Lagos State Police Command stated that investigations are underway.
Authorities also revealed that several suspects have been arrested as efforts intensify to curb cult-related violence across the state.
