
The Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation into a tragic incident that claimed the lives of a bride’s father and a hype man during a wedding ceremony in Lagos.
The victims 54-year-old Durosimi Anthony Taiwo and a 30-year-old hype man were reportedly shot during the event held in the Ikotun area of the state.
The shocking attack disrupted what was meant to be a joyful celebration, leaving attendees in panic and grief.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, investigations are already underway, although no arrests have been made so far.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Panti, Yaba, for a more detailed probe to uncover the motive behind the attack.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.
He emphasized ongoing collaboration with other security agencies to maintain law and order across the state.
The police also issued a strong warning to individuals involved in criminal activities, stating that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or threats to security authorities.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts are being intensified to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent similar incidents in the future.
