
The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a 22-year-old suspected cultist, Favour Izunna, popularly known as “Njoku,” over his alleged involvement in multiple criminal activities, including murder and kidnapping in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit in Enugwu Ukwu during a coordinated raid on a criminal hideout in Obosi.
Items recovered during the operation include a pump-action gun, five live cartridges, a locally made Beretta pistol, and seven rounds of 7.5mm live ammunition.
Police investigations revealed that Izunna is a member of the notorious Vikings Confraternity, where he allegedly served as an executioner, terrorising residents within Obosi and surrounding communities.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to his involvement in the killing of at least five individuals, although he could clearly identify three of the victims as Somtochukwu Alfred, Udechukwu Izuchukwu, and Izuchukwu Obi.

He also admitted to participating in several kidnapping operations within the state, naming some victims, including Emeka Chukwuka and Chinelo Onyeka.
Furthermore, the suspect disclosed that certain individuals allegedly sponsored and contracted him to carry out the killings within the community.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed intensified efforts to track down other members of the gang and their sponsors who are currently at large.
The police assured the public that investigations are ongoing and further updates will be communicated in due course.
