
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has carried out a raid at the old site of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency around the Bayero University Kano (BUK) area, leading to the arrest of six suspects allegedly involved in illegal drug activities.
According to a statement from the Kano Strategic Command, the operation code-named Sharar Mafaka was conducted following a formal complaint from the management of Bayero University Kano over reports of unauthorized access and drug-related activities within and around parts of the campus environment.
NDLEA operatives reportedly moved into the area, dismantled identified drug spots, and arrested six individuals linked to the illegal trade and consumption of narcotics. Items recovered during the operation were also confiscated and destroyed.
The Commander of the Kano Strategic Command, D.Y. Lawal, described the exercise as part of ongoing efforts to rid educational environments and public spaces of drug-related crimes.

He emphasized the agency’s commitment to sustaining a drug-free society and warned that such operations would continue across identified hotspots.
The agency also praised the university’s cooperation, noting that timely intelligence from the institution helped facilitate the successful operation.
It further urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to aid the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
NDLEA reiterated that it will not tolerate the use of schools or government facilities as hideouts for illicit drug activities, assuring that enforcement actions will be intensified in the coming weeks.
