A cobbler identified as Ali Musa, reportedly a Nigerien national, has been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Security Corps over the alleged theft of a motorcycle in Benin City.
The suspect was said to have stolen the motorcycle in a desperate attempt to raise money for a planned trip to Libya. According to sources, Musa had earlier contacted a human trafficker who promised to facilitate his journey abroad but demanded funds he could not afford.
In a bid to secure the required money, the cobbler allegedly broke into a residence in the early hours of April 28, 2026, around 4:00 a.m., and made away with the motorcycle.
