The Kaduna State High Court has postponed the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the first week of June 2026. The decision was made on Tuesday by Justice Darius Khobo after proceedings in the ongoing case.
El-Rufai is being prosecuted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over multiple allegations of financial misconduct and abuse of office during his time as governor. He has continued to deny all the charges against him.
The case involves several serious accusations, including alleged illegal payments running into billions of naira for projects that were reportedly not executed, questionable severance payments, mismanagement of a World Bank loan, and procurement violations. He is also facing a separate trial at the Federal High Court on money laundering-related charges.

Court proceedings have experienced delays, partly due to amendments to the charges, which were recently revised from nine counts and led to the removal of a former co-defendant, leaving El-Rufai as the sole accused in the Kaduna case. His legal team said they were not given enough time to study the new charges.
In a related development, El-Rufai had previously been granted bail in another ICPC case at the Federal High Court, adding another layer to the ongoing legal battles.
With the latest adjournment, both the prosecution and defence are expected to continue preparations as the high-profile trial moves further into mid-2026.
