
A wave of grief has swept through Bayelsa State following the death of a medical doctor, Dr. Ere Ogbachi, who passed away shortly after delivering a set of triplets.
According to information shared by her family, the doctor successfully gave birth at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri.
However, complications reportedly set in soon after the delivery, prompting an emergency transfer to the Intensive Care Unit of the Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa.
Her brother, Meshack Sintei, disclosed that despite the efforts of medical personnel to stabilise her condition, her health deteriorated rapidly.

He recounted the family’s painful experience as they watched doctors struggle to save her life.
During the emergency intervention, her oxygen levels were said to have dropped significantly, worsening her condition.
She was later pronounced dead in the early hours of April 14, 2026.
The tragic incident has left her family, colleagues, and loved ones devastated.
Described as a committed medical professional, Dr. Ogbachi was said to have shown strength until her final moments.
Until her passing, she served as a registrar at the teaching hospital, was a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, and an alumna of Niger Delta University.
As of the time of this report, officials of the hospital had yet to issue a formal statement on the circumstances surrounding her death.
