The bid for freedom by Nigerian cryptocurrency entrepreneur, Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as B-Lord, has been thrown into uncertainty following a dramatic twist at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The situation took an unexpected turn after the Nigeria Police Force withdrew its opposition to B-Lord’s bail application.
The move, which ordinarily would have paved the way for a swift hearing, instead led to an unusual delay as the presiding judge reportedly became unreachable.
Court proceedings scheduled to address the bail request could not go on due to the judge’s absence, leaving the case stalled and raising fresh concerns about procedural delays within the judicial system.
B-Lord, founder of the Blord Group, was arraigned on April 1 and subsequently remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

He is facing allegations including criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and the unauthorised use of another individual’s identity.
The charges stem from a petition filed by social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan.
He accused B-Lord of using his name and image without consent to promote business ventures and falsely claiming a multi-million-naira endorsement deal.
According to the influencer, B-Lord allegedly produced promotional materials such as flyers and billboards featuring his image, while also claiming that he had been paid hundreds of millions of naira as a brand ambassador.
VeryDarkMan has strongly denied the claims, insisting he does not engage in paid promotions and had no agreement with the entrepreneur.
Efforts by B-Lord’s legal team to fast-track the bail hearing had earlier included a request for the assignment of a vacation judge to urgently hear the application.
Despite this, the matter was adjourned, and the latest development has further complicated the process.
Legal observers say the withdrawal of the police’s counter-affidavit should have accelerated the hearing.
Instead, the judge’s unavailability has left the application in limbo, fueling concerns about transparency and efficiency in the handling of the case.
As uncertainty lingers, B-Lord remains in custody, with no clear indication of when the court will reconvene to hear his bail application.
