
Former Argentina international Javier Mascherano has officially stepped down as head coach of Inter Miami CF, bringing an end to a remarkable spell in charge of the club following a record-breaking season.
The club confirmed his immediate resignation on Tuesday, stating that Mascherano left the role due to personal reasons after guiding the team to one of the most successful campaigns in their history.
During his short but impactful tenure, Mascherano led Inter Miami to their first-ever MLS Cup triumph, marking a major milestone for the club.

In a farewell message, Mascherano thanked the club’s leadership, players, staff, and fans for their support, saying he was proud to have been part of such a historic achievement.

Club owner Jorge Mas praised the departing coach, highlighting his leadership, discipline, and role in shaping the team’s historic achievements.
He noted that Mascherano would always remain part of the club’s legacy.
Mascherano, who took over managerial duties in early 2025 despite having limited coaching experience at the top level, quickly transformed Inter Miami into champions.
The team also made strong progress in international competitions during his time in charge, further strengthening their reputation.
Following his exit, Inter Miami is expected to begin the process of identifying a new head coach ahead of upcoming fixtures and competitions.
