
The Plateau State Police Command has presented cheques totaling ₦28,509,182 to the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The presentation, which took place on Wednesday at the Command Headquarters in Jos, was led by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bassey Ewah.
He explained that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to support the welfare of the deceased officers’ dependents.
Ewah, who represented the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, noted that the financial support was disbursed under the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and the Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Scheme.

He emphasized that the gesture serves as a token of appreciation for the sacrifices made by the fallen officers, acknowledging their ultimate price in service to the nation.
While extending condolences to the bereaved families, the Commissioner stated that although no amount of money can replace the lives lost, the Police Force remains committed to the welfare of its personnel and their loved ones.
He also urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, assuring them that other outstanding entitlements would be processed and paid in due course.
