
The Kogi State Police Command has disclosed the identification of suspected bandit enclaves and supply routes, as part of intensified efforts to curb violent crimes across the state.
Tactical teams have been deployed to monitor and disrupt criminal activities.
In a statement on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Saliu Afusat, said the proactive measures are being led by CP Naziru Kankarofi in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.
“Through intelligence-led policing strategies, we have pinpointed suspected bandit enclaves and supply routes. Tactical teams have been strategically deployed to monitor and disrupt criminal movements,” she stated.
Officers have been deployed across all three senatorial districts to maintain visible policing, with particular focus on hotspot areas. Intelligence operations have also been strengthened, with stop-and-search and covert surveillance operations ongoing in vulnerable locations.
ASP Afusat added that the command is working closely with the Department of State Services, the military, and other security agencies through joint operations and coordination meetings.

“Community engagement has been increased with traditional rulers, local government authorities, and community leaders to strengthen cooperation and support security operations.
We urge stakeholders to provide timely and credible information,” she said.
All tactical units, including the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Special Protection Unit (SPU), and Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), are on high alert, conducting 24-hour patrols across farmlands, forests, borders, worship centers, and social gathering points.
Supervising officers have been directed to maintain strict oversight to ensure discipline, vigilance, and operational efficiency.
Hourly situation reports (SITREP) are mandated to guarantee situational awareness, with strict disciplinary measures for any lapses.
The command reiterated its commitment to intelligence-driven policing and called on the public to cooperate in ridding Kogi State of criminal elements.
