
A community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State has been thrown into mourning after a suspected herdsmen attack claimed the lives of a mother and her three sons.
The attack occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Imande Dem settlement along Gbajimba Road in Uvir Council Ward.
Local sources said that suspected armed herdsmen invaded the area while residents were asleep, targeting the household of Mrs. Utsuwa Chicha.
Mrs. Chicha and her three sons were killed during the raid.

A young boy from the family survived but suffered gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors erformed emergency surgery to remove bullets.
Community members revealed that Mrs. Chicha’s husband had been killed in an earlier attack, leaving the family particularly vulnerable before this latest tragedy. Security operatives and local residents later evacuated the victims’ bodies.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, though repeated assaults by suspected armed herders in Guma have left residents living in fear. At the time of reporting, security agencies had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
The attack has reignited calls for urgent government intervention to protect communities in the region from recurring violence.
