
Boxing fans in Lagos are gearing up for an action-packed showdown as the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame (LBHF) tournament makes its return this Saturday, March 29, at the buzzing Agege Stadium.
The monthly amateur boxing event, known for grooming some of Nigeria’s finest talents, will feature a lineup of eight competitive bouts alongside two exhibition fights, setting the stage for a night filled with intensity, skill, and raw determination.
The opening fight sets the tone with a 50kg clash between Mujeeb Olasunkanmi of Ikorodu and Akeem Salisu of Ajegunle.
Fans can also look forward to other gripping encounters across multiple weight divisions, as fighters from Oshodi, Surulere, Mushin, Alimosho, and beyond step into the ring, each eager to make a statement.
Female boxers are not left out, with exciting matchups scheduled in the 48kg and 51kg categories, further highlighting the rising strength and presence of women in the sport.

Speaking ahead of the event, LBHF Director David Mohamed described the tournament as a vital platform for discovering and developing grassroots talent, noting that it continues to produce fighters who go on to represent Nigeria on bigger stages.
The event also serves as a build-up to the upcoming IBILE-format tournament, which will rotate across Lagos divisions, Island, Mainland, Ikorodu, Badagry, and Epe, before culminating in a grand finale.
Founded in 2010 by Wale Edun, the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame has steadily built a reputation as a cornerstone of amateur boxing in Nigeria.
With rising stars, fierce rivalries, and everything to fight for, this weekend’s edition promises a true “battle night” that boxing lovers won’t forget anytime soon.
