Two nurses have been arrested following the deaths of two sisters, aged six and three, at the General Hospital in Zuru on March 18.
The girls reportedly received a tetanus injection in error instead of the routine polio vaccine, leading to their tragic deaths.
A nine-member government panel, led by Commissioner for Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed, has begun investigating the incident.
Hospital staff cited gaps in communication as a possible factor, prompting calls for urgent reforms.

The Kebbi State Government donated ₦10 million to support the grieving family. Speaking at the Emir’s Palace, Alhaji Ahmed said, “No sum of money can replace the lives lost, but we hope this support shows the family has not been abandoned.”
The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi Mikailu Sami, stressed the need for high professional standards and continuous training for healthcare workers.
The children’s father, Ibrahim Abdullahi Shuni, thanked the government for ensuring a thorough investigation and awaited justice for the tragedy.
