Troops of the Nigerian Army have uncovered a suspected terrorist burial site along with a fabricated mortar tube during a clearance operation in Abadam Local Government Area, Borno State.
The discovery was made on March 21 by soldiers of the 68 Battalion, as part of ongoing efforts under Operation Hadin Kai to track fleeing insurgents and restrict their movement within the region.
According to security sources, the patrol, led by the unit’s Commanding Officer, also located a field medical facility believed to have been used to treat injured fighters.
The burial ground is thought to contain the remains of about eight suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Military officials noted that the findings indicate heavy losses suffered by insurgents in recent confrontations, forcing them to abandon their positions.
Troops have since intensified patrols and clearance operations to prevent regrouping and maintain pressure on the fleeing terrorists.
The operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s ongoing commitment to neutralizing insurgent threats and securing communities in the Lake Chad region.
