The victim, a young man in his 20s, reportedly clashed repeatedly with his mother’s partner over his frequent visits to their home.
Tensions escalated over time, culminating in a fatal attack late Sunday night.
Neighbours became suspicious when the household remained unusually quiet for days.
Upon checking, they discovered the victim’s lifeless body in his room, bearing severe machete wounds. The horrifying scene sparked outrage across the community.

Eyewitnesses said the suspect and the victim’s mother fled immediately after the attack. Youths from the victim’s hometown reportedly carried the corpse through parts of the community in protest before retaliating by attacking and setting fire to the suspect’s family compound.
Community leaders condemned both the killing and the subsequent mob action, urging residents to refrain from jungle justice and maintain peace.
Police authorities confirmed that the case is under investigation. The body has been deposited in a morgue, while the two main suspects remain at large as investigators work to determine the full circumstances behind the tragedy.
