
The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert warning of a potential terrorist threat targeting American diplomatic facilities and U.S.-affiliated schools in the country.
In the advisory released on Tuesday, the embassy urged U.S. citizens residing in or visiting Nigeria to exercise heightened vigilance when around American government facilities and institutions connected to the United States.
According to the alert, the warning comes amid rising global tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which may increase security risks for American interests abroad.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja informs U.S. citizens of a possible terrorist threat against U.S. facilities and U.S.-affiliated schools in Nigeria,” the statement said.
The mission specifically advised American nationals to take extra precautions when visiting the U.S.
Embassy in Abuja, the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, and schools affiliated with the U.S. government.
As part of the recommended safety measures, the embassy urged citizens to vary their travel routes and schedules when heading to these locations, in order to reduce the risk of becoming predictable targets.
Additionally, U.S. nationals were encouraged to remain alert, stay aware of their surroundings, and closely monitor security updates while in Nigeria.
The embassy noted that taking such precautionary steps could help minimize potential risks as authorities continue to assess the situation.
