
Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have attacked a police border checkpoint along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje road in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing two officers and destroying the facility.
During the assault, the gunmen reportedly set fire to the tent used by officers stationed at the checkpoint after carrying out the attack.
A video showing the burnt checkpoint has been circulating on social media across the state.
The latest incident marks the third attack recorded along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje border area. In earlier attacks, gunmen had killed personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in large numbers and opened fire indiscriminately at the checkpoint before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the attack, the Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said two officers who were on duty were killed by the assailants.
He also confirmed that the attackers set the checkpoint tents on fire.
Usman stated that the police are currently handling the situation and promised to provide further details later.
