
A 30-year-old officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Wofai Benson Akpama, has been found dead in his apartment in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.
Akpama was discovered lifeless in his residence located at No. 34 Mbora Street, Etta-Agbor, within Calabar Municipality.
A source, Joy Benson of Holland Street, said she reported the incident to the police on Friday after noticing what she described as a sudden and unnatural death.
“I informed the police about the sudden and unnatural death on Friday. Immediately, officers visited the scene, where the remains were observed,” she said.

Police sources indicated that there were no visible signs of violence on the body and that foul play was not initially suspected.
The remains were subsequently evacuated to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, stated that investigations are ongoing.
“The case was reported to us last week. We have yet to identify any suspect, but an investigation is ongoing,” he said.
