Popular streamer Caterefe has opened up about why he stopped attending church, citing advice from fellow skit maker Sidney Talker as a major factor.
In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Caterefe explained that he was once a regular churchgoer, but Sidney, whom he admired as a committed Christian, gave him guidance that felt harmful and contradictory.
Sidney reportedly advised Caterefe to quit streaming and even suggested he part ways with his streaming partner, Kolu, for just one million naira.
Caterefe described the advice as “malicious,” saying it changed his perspective on Christians and churchgoers.

“I used to go to church, but I stopped because I noticed that a lot of churchgoers are very malicious. For example, Sidney Talker goes to church consistently yet he advised me to quit streaming.
He even suggested I discharge Kolu with 1 million naira, but I refused. That was when I decided to make Kolu my best friend,” Caterefe revealed.
He also expressed surprise that Sidney, despite his church attendance, seemed fearful of juju and advised caution regarding Kolu’s former boss, Portable.
“I was gaining traction and then suddenly he told me to stop. It seemed malicious to me,” he added.
Caterefe further shared that before starting his streaming career, he battled months of depression as skit-making began to lose popularity.
Streaming, he said, helped him regain confidence and recover from his struggles.
