The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has shaved his plan to revive the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stating that the party failed to learn from the internal crisis affecting the party, declaring his intention to back President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Wike made the remarks on Monday during his first monthly media briefing of 2026 in Abuja.
He stated that the ongoing turmoil within the PDP shows the party has not taken lessons from recent political challenges. The FCT minister also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.

According to him, he had been clear about his position, noting that the PDP did not consult him on its choice of candidates. He stressed that his support would go only to candidates who align with and support the President, regardless of their political affiliation.
Wike added that his stance should not be misconstrued as working against any group, emphasizing that his loyalty lies with individuals who are committed to backing the President’s agenda.
