Residents of a community in Edo State were thrown into mourning on Tuesday night after suspected gunmen attacked the home of a traditional chief, killing him and abducting two of his daughters.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers forced their way into the residence after breaking the main gate and gaining access through the compound, catching the household off guard.
The assailants reportedly stormed the chief’s bedroom, shot him at close range, and then dragged the two young women out of the house before fleeing.
The attack caused panic in the neighborhood, with residents scampering for safety as the gunmen escaped into nearby bushes.
