Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia has revealed how colleague Mercy Johnson stepped in to help her during a frightening period marked by threats from her ex-husband.
Etinosa made the disclosure during a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where she recounted receiving death threats after speaking publicly about domestic abuse in her first marriage.
According to her, the threats began after an interview meant to promote a film was edited to focus on her past relationship, exposing details she had casually mentioned.
She explained that the situation quickly escalated, with her ex-husband accusing her of trying to damage his career and demanding that she retract her statements.

As the threats intensified, Etinosa said she took to social media to cry out for help.
Among those who reached out, Etinosa singled out Mercy Johnson, describing her as instrumental in ensuring her safety.
She said the actress leveraged her strong military background to forward the case to the appropriate authorities, including the office of the Chief of Naval Staff.
Etinosa revealed that shortly after Mercy Johnson’s intervention, officials from Abuja contacted her and assured her the matter was being handled.
She noted that following this, the threats stopped.
The actress was previously married to a military officer, a union that ended between 2017 and 2018. She later remarried, but that marriage also ended in 2021.
Etinosa’s revelation has sparked renewed conversations online about domestic abuse, the dangers faced by survivors who speak out, and the importance of support systems within the entertainment industry.
