‘I Was Never Paid’ — Okunnu Opens Up on Dispute With Olasco Films

Veteran Nollywood comic actor Wale Akorede, popularly known as Okunnu, has spoken out about a long-standing dispute with movie marketer Olasco Films, alleging that he was never paid for a film project he handled several years ago.


The actor made the disclosure during a recent interview with media personality Olugbenga Oropo Valentine on the SAWORO programme, a clip of which has since gained traction on social media.


According to Okunnu, he produced, directed, and played the lead role in a movie titled Aare, which was released in two parts at the same time.

Despite the effort and resources invested in the project, he claimed he did not receive any financial compensation from the marketer.

Describing the unpaid fee as the proceeds of his “sweat,” the actor said he was not given a single naira from the movie’s earnings, adding that the issue remains unresolved till date.


Okunnu further stated that the experience left him deeply hurt and disappointed, noting that he has not forgiven the marketer over the incident.

He mentioned Akeem Balogun, popularly known as Olasco, as the individual involved in the dispute.
The revelation has reignited conversations online about payment disputes in the Nigerian film industry, with many calling for clearer contracts and better protection for creative professionals.
