
Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released from prison after spending a week in custody following allegations of assault and theft.
Portable was granted bail on Monday, January 19, 2026, after fulfilling the court’s conditions. In a video that quickly went viral on social media, the singer insisted on his innocence, saying, “They lied against me. I’m innocent.”
The drama began on New Year’s Eve when a video capturing a heated exchange between Portable and his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, surfaced online.
In the footage, Ashabi was seen holding his clothes and shouting, “Pami baby” (Baby you have to kill me), sparking public outrage.

Following the incident, Ashabi and her siblings reported Portable to the police, accusing him of assault and stealing their car.
The singer was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on a nine-count charge including theft, assault, causing harm, and resisting arrest.
The presiding judge remanded Portable in custody but scheduled a fresh bail hearing, which resulted in his release on Monday.
