The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has assured families of the 37 miners who died in the Minna mining tragedy that the Corps will not interfere with the ongoing investigation.
Audi gave the assurance during a condolence visit to the bereaved families, the family of the surviving miner and the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago.
He said the NSCDC would cooperate fully with the investigative committee set up by the Federal Government to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
According to him, no personnel or individual found culpable would be shielded from investigation or possible prosecution.

Audi disclosed that some personnel connected to the incident had already been placed in protective custody to ensure their availability for questioning.
He said the NSCDC remained committed to transparency and accountability, stressing that the truth must emerge and justice must be allowed to take its course.
The Emir of Minna appreciated the NSCDC chief for personally visiting the affected families and joining prayers for the deceased.
The investigation into the tragic deaths remains ongoing as authorities work to establish what led to the incident and determine responsibility.
