
The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman in Umuahia after her husband, an officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, was fatally stabbed during a domestic dispute.
The state Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, stated that the suspect is currently being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department in connection with the murder.
The deceased, identified as Chidiebere James, served at the Abia State Command of the Immigration Service.
Reports indicate that tensions in the family began on Sunday, when an argument over the care of a sick child and financial support escalated.

The situation worsened after the wife accused her husband of infidelity, citing messages found on his phone.
Family members initially intervened, calming the dispute.
However, the conflict reignited early Monday morning inside the family home in Umuihi, Umuogba Ekeoba, Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses say the confrontation started when the couple began arguing again. The deceased reportedly destroyed his wife’s phone after she had damaged his in retaliation.
In response, the woman allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors that were nearby and stabbed her husband multiple times.
He collapsed immediately and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where he was pronounced dead.
The traditional ruler of Ekeoba Ancient Kingdom, Iheanyi Nwokenna, confirmed the incident and described it as a shocking development that has left the Umuihi Umuogba community in mourning.
Residents have voiced concern about the rising incidents of domestic violence in the area. Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will face court proceedings once inquiries are concluded.
