
A two-storey building collapsed in the early hours of Monday at No. 54, Cole Street, Cemetery Bus Stop, near UBA Bank in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State, leaving several residents trapped under the rubble.
According to reports, the incident occurred shortly after midnight. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) confirmed receiving a distress call at about 12:20 a.m., after which firefighters from the Sari Iganmu Fire Station were immediately deployed and arrived at 12:29 a.m. to commence search and rescue operations.
While addressing the incident, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, revealed that a total of 15 individuals had been rescued alive. The rescued persons include seven adult males, four adult females, and four children, all sustaining varying degrees of injuries.
Adeseye said the victims have been transported to the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Meta, and the General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island, for urgent medical attention.
