
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested two men for allegedly abducting a traffic officer in Akure, the state capital.
The suspects, identified as Olopade Abraham and Emmanuel Taiwo, were apprehended following an incident that occurred on April 3, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, the incident began when one of the suspects, who was driving a Toyota Avensis, reportedly violated traffic regulations at Cathedral Junction in Akure.

A Senior Traffic Warden attached to the ‘A’ Division, identified as ST Oliniju Kehinde, approached the vehicle to enforce compliance and directed the driver to proceed to the station.
However, instead of complying with the directive, the driver allegedly diverted from the instructed route and drove off with the officer still inside the vehicle.
The situation prompted an immediate alarm, which attracted the attention of a nearby police patrol team attached to the Fanibi Division. The officers swiftly responded, pursued the fleeing vehicle, and eventually intercepted it at Winners Chapel Junction along Ondo Road.
The traffic officer was safely rescued, while the suspects were taken into custody along with the vehicle involved.
The police confirmed that the case remains under investigation.
