Tinubu Stumbles at Guard of Honour During Turkey Visit

President Bola Tinubu briefly stumbled on Tuesday while participating in a ceremonial march-past during his reception in Türkiye.

The incident occurred as the President joined the guard of honour, drawing momentary attention, but the programme continued without disruption.


The visit is aimed at strengthening the long-standing diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Türkiye and exploring new avenues for trade, investment, and regional cooperation.

President Tinubu is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on matters of trade, security, and mutual economic development.

Several memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed during the visit, alongside high-level engagements designed to foster closer collaboration between both nations. A business forum will also be held on the sidelines, connecting Nigerian and Turkish investors to explore opportunities for economic growth.


Senior Nigerian officials present to receive the President at his hotel included the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake; and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd).


Despite the brief stumble, President Tinubu’s visit continues as planned, reflecting the resilience and focus of Nigeria’s leadership in advancing international partnerships.
