The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has urged leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to embrace reconciliation and move beyond internal litigations following the recent ruling of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria concerning the party’s national convention.
Akpoti-Uduaghan made the call in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday through her media aide, Mike Idoko. She encouraged party members across the country to view the judgment as an opportunity to restore unity, strengthen internal democracy, and reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to her, prolonged legal battles within the party could undermine the aspirations of loyal members who hope to contest elections under the PDP platform.
“The Court of Appeal has spoken, and as a democratic party that believes in the rule of law, we must now shift our focus from litigation to reconciliation and rebuilding,” she said.
The lawmaker emphasized that the strength of the PDP lies in unity, collective purpose, and a shared commitment to providing Nigerians with credible leadership.

She noted that political parties primarily exist to offer platforms for citizens who wish to serve their communities and the nation through elective positions.
Akpoti-Uduaghan warned that ongoing internal disputes should not derail the ambitions of party members preparing for future elections. She stressed that grassroots members aspiring to serve in State Houses of Assembly, the House of Representatives, the Senate, governorship positions, and even the presidency should not become victims of prolonged disagreements among party leaders.
She further urged party leaders to demonstrate compromise and statesmanship in resolving their differences, noting that the moment requires maturity, dialogue, and a collective commitment to the survival and progress of the PDP.
The senator also called on stakeholders to work toward an inclusive and credible national convention in line with the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), emphasizing that unity within the party is crucial as Nigeria moves closer to the next electoral cycle.
