Sources also revealed that the attackers had earlier used a similar device to destroy a key bridge on Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area. The bridge links the Luma, Babana, and Agwara communities and serves as an important route for traders, especially those heading to the Babana border market, which takes place every Monday.
The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, stating that the bridge was bombed in the early hours of March 23, 2026, by suspected terrorists operating in the Park Forest area.
He added that security forces are currently conducting clearance operations in the area, with monitoring efforts ongoing to ensure safety and prevent further attacks.
