A 17-year-old boy has been accused of hacking into celebrities’ WhatsApp accounts and distributing explicit materials to fellow students in Delta State, according to the Delta State Police Command.
The incident was disclosed during a security awareness programme featured in a video shared by comedian Otaghware Onodjayeke, popularly known as I Go Save, who engaged the Divisional Police Officer of Ugborikoko Division in Uvwie Local Government Area, Temi Agbede-Zuokumor.
According to the police officer, the case was uncovered after officers conducted a routine inspection of a student’s phone, which initially raised suspicion.
She explained that further inconsistencies in the explanation provided by the student’s mother, who claimed the phone belonged to his sister, prompted officers to investigate more closely.

She said the breakthrough came after officers searched the device and discovered that it contained a large number of foreign contacts as well as various inappropriate digital materials.
Further findings allegedly revealed that the teenager was involved in sharing such content with classmates, who reportedly regarded him as influential among his peers.
The officer also stated that investigations suggested the suspect had gained unauthorized access to WhatsApp accounts belonging to some celebrities and used them to carry out fraudulent activities and exploit victims online.
During the same session, comedian I Go Save recounted a related experience involving a scam attempt in which an individual impersonated billionaire Elon Musk in an attempt to solicit financial assistance.
The police used the opportunity to warn parents, guardians, and school authorities about the rising sophistication of cyber-related crimes among teenagers, urging stricter monitoring of students’ phone usage and online activities.
Authorities confirmed that investigations into the case are still ongoing.
