
A disagreement reportedly sparked by a money-related issue has ended in tragedy after an 18-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend in Owo.
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the arrest of Johnson Daniel for allegedly killing his friend, Ariyo Timilehin, during a heated argument.
According to the police spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, the incident occurred on March 6, 2026. Preliminary findings revealed that the two friends began arguing over a misunderstanding involving money they had earlier discussed.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a violent altercation during which Daniel allegedly stabbed Timilehin with a knife.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, where doctors later confirmed him dead on arrival.
Police detectives who visited the scene recovered the knife suspected to have been used in the attack, while the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Residents in the area were said to be shocked by the tragedy, noting that both young men were known to be close friends who were often seen together around their neighbourhood.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid violence and seek peaceful ways to resolve disputes.
