
Suspected members of Boko Haram have reportedly attacked a nomadic settlement in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one herder and making away with about 1,400 sheep.
The incident occurred in Wuturo village, a remote nomadic settlement located near Konduga town. According to the Borno State Police Command, the attack happened late at night when the armed assailants stormed the community on motorcycles.
Police spokesperson, Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed that the attack was first reported to the Konduga Police Division by members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the attackers invaded the settlement around 10:30 p.m., firing gunshots and causing panic among the residents.
During the attack, a 40-year-old herder identified as Ahmadu Baida was fatally shot, while another victim, Mohammadu Baida, 30, sustained a gunshot injury to his left leg.

The assailants also rustled approximately 1,400 sheep belonging to the herders before fleeing the scene.
Following the report, a joint security team comprising police officers, military personnel, members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, and local hunters was quickly mobilised to the area under the leadership of the Divisional Police Officer in Konduga.
The injured victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the deceased was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Naziru Abdulmajid, condemned the attack and extended condolences to the family of the deceased.
Security operatives have since intensified efforts to track down the attackers and recover the stolen livestock, while patrols have been strengthened in surrounding communities to prevent further attacks.
